baza4k
Hi, This is my first post and like many others I have probably put it in the wrong place (apologies). I have an Elise S2 118bhp (I think) with Larini exhaust and a Hurricane induction kit. Both items on car when purchased. I am not mechanically minded nore am I a fast driver, I just like the car and the way that it drives. However, I have found a company that can give me extra grunt and if I want, some exhaust burble added. has anybody else used this company and can they let me know whether the remap is worth it? http://www.kmaps.co.uk/clients Any advice or alternatives welcome.... Alex B
I've heard a lot of good things regarding Kmaps. Tom Halliwell one of Mloc's regular trackdayers speaks very highly of him. As do a lot of the mgzr race teams. Unsure on his cost but I could be tempted to do this. My car is run the same setup as yours by the sound of it. Martin R
Welcome to MLOC. The other alternative is 135 cams. Probably approx £300 / 400 buying and fitting?
DeanB
As it happens I have a pair of 135 cams for sale if you want them - £130. Pm me if you're interested. As the name suggests they should give you another 15 bhp. They are Rover oem kit and allow the engine to breather much better between 5 and 6 thousand revs, at the expense of a little low down torque. Reverend Green
Hi there, I ran this hill climb season in a "tweaked" Kmaps 1.4 MG ZR great firm to deal with he lives in the village next to me and came over on his bike. 15minutes later I had better throttle, improved red line 7250 and much more mid torque. I had the car dyno'd and it gave a very respectable 127bhp output 23 more than stock, although that was with throttle body, exhaust and manifold and itg panel filter fitted. They designed the original map for rover so know it inside out. I had the overrun pop fitted too just because I like the burble but defo a thumbs up from me. baza4k
Welcome to MLOC. The other alternative is 135 cams. Probably approx £300 / 400 buying and fitting? Hi Martin R Many thanks for your response and to the others. I am also thinking of the 135 cams together with the Kmaps. I have heard many positive remarks regarding their remaps for K Series engines but nothing regarding the Lotus Elise. Apparently they remove the Lotus ECU and replace with an MG ECU that is tweeked for more power. It would be interesting to know what performance gains could be achieved combining the two? russelld
Does the MG ECU then run all the instruments & IACV ok on an S2 Elise ?
Alex B
As I understand it mark fully reflashes the lotus Ecu rather than swapping them. i believe he can also reprogramme immobilisers n alarms to ecu.
