Rear View Mirror Reattachment

Hi all - simple question. Has anybody had to re-attach their rear view mirror on to the windscreen and if so which product did you use?

 

I have tried quite a few now and it just fails and falls off again after a short while....

 

Anybody able to suggest something?

Mine fell off and I never replaced it.... I think you get much more unobstructed front view without it, and you couldn't see much in the rear view anyway.

You can buy double sided sticky pads. Its what Autoglass use when changing a windscreen. You have to clean the windscreen with solvent and warm the glass slightly with a hair dryer ( no really )

Do they work ok? I have tried a few similar to this (although not that particular brand). They continually fall off. Maybe the hair dryer trick is the way forwards?!

I just went into Autoglass and they gave me a sticky pad. Prep is everything as Martin suggests. Must have replaced mine 4 years ago I reckon.

My windscreen was changed years ago by Autoglass in sunny Aston. The rear view mirror has never fell off

Why bother? Leave it off.
