chris_h
I would love to have the time to build my own car/ refurbish a classic. Just no chance at the moment with young kids and a growing business. One day i might get the chance to rebuild my dad's 1970's elan+2. It had a full reatoration in about 1990. But hasn't turned a wheel in the last 10 years.
Alex B
For me I'd like to restore a mk3 or 4 Escort RS Turbo. Always wanted one, since owning a mk4 Xr3i. Another car I'd like to get my hands on would be a rover P6 in white.

Alex B
Rover p6 in white you say https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/112142023058 Close but no cigar, would have the be the 3.5L V8 version as my grandad had one, n sold it because the fuel cost too much. Dr H
That P6 looks in amazing condition. But I'm with Alex - needs to be a V8. My dad used to have one of these: His was an 'S' model which meant 97hp and twin SU carbs Restoring one to the rally spec would be quite cool
winthattt
My father had one and as children you could walk about in the back, so much room and no seat belts back then. Surprisingly good cars even if they look as exciting as a beige sweater. A design by Sir Alex.
stratosboy
I'm doing things the opposite way to Dr.H, so Stratos replica built and driven over the last 20 years, replaced by Spyder Zetec Elan project, which is now mostly finished, just not running yet. I have just started collecting bits for my next project which I intend to enjoy as I retire from 35 years service in the NHS: a motorsport elise wide bodied, audi engined build. Looking to make it as light weight as possible and hoping for about 350 bhp from Audi 1.8t or 2.0 TFSI engine, whichever comes up first at right price. Bryno
I like a project or 2 to keep busy, currently restoring a 1965 Vespa and a 1992 Mini Cooper, in waiting have a 1960 Lambretta, but would rather be restoring a '70's Vauxhall Firenza HP or Sportshatch or even an HSR Chevette :-) Or on a bigger budget anything 1980's Group B.. I have driven a 6r4 and SWB Grp B Audi. Lap time in a mk2 Escort was 1min, 50 seconds in the Metro, that was first lap.

Real wood cappings too! Same colour as this Interior like this (but beige leather) I'm doing things the opposite way to Dr.H, so Stratos replica built and driven over the last 20 years, replaced by Spyder Zetec Elan project, which is now mostly finished, just not running yet. Winners
If we're dreaming this is the car I'd do. Even in my dreams the only way to own would be a refurb! Most beautiful car ever made
DeanB
Most beautiful car ever? Now there's a question! I'm not sure of the answer. The 246 Dino is definitely up there. Another candidate would be the Bugatti Atlantique (if that's how you spell it). You can't discount the s1 e type fixed head either.

dinglem
We've got a couple of Hillman Imps (one of which is a rare van) and a very early Austin Seven (Mini) already. I did the Mini as a surprise wedding present for the wife, which certainly wasn't at all easy to work on or keep hidden, that I can tell you! Going with the Imp engine familiarity I'd love to do a Climax-engined Elite... that would be my ideal really, or possibly (if I could ever get my hands on it) the 70's Gilbern T11 prototype car. So bad, it's good. Ummmm.... what else...? I've always like the de Tomaso Mangusta and also the early Pantera too. At the total opposite end of the spectrum I might have a chance of restoring this...... It's a 70's Piaggio Ape, and has been left in garage of a house we recently bought. If I can get my hands on it then i'll get it going and have a bit of fun with it.
