Hi all I need some new rubber on the front I have AD07 175 55 16 on but I find they under steer at speed so I want something that sticks but can't find anything in the size? I may look at another set of wheels and tyres just for hillclimbs and sprints. My back end is not to bad new AD08.I also need to change my pads soon I have had a look around and it looks like the discs are ok so what pads should I go for? You can throw money at things but get no better result my friend has around 20k worth of mods on his Porsche yet is only 4 seconds faster on the hill then my standard SC,also what other mods do people recommend as I have said the going isn't bad it's the stopping before the bends and some under steer going round them.

Thanks in advance.

A tried and tested improvement in pads would be Carbon Lorraine RC5 + for the front and RC 6 for the rear.

Definitely go for wider front wheels and 195 section tyres. The semi slick type that are road legal are all much faster than standard Elise tyres. Try Toyo 888, yoko a048 or Avon zzr. The Avons are used in the seloc sprint series I believe.

Try uprated springs and dampers - Nitron ntr's are very good but street series are ok if on a budget (I have these). Lower the car a bit and put rake in it (about 10 ml lower at front than back). Have the geometry and corner weights set by someone that knows what he's doing.

Braided brake lines and upgraded brake fluid.

Do that lot first and see how you get on. You should be with that Porker or thereabouts.

Hi

I would recommend you check out the relevant regulations as to what tyres you are allowed to run for your sprinting.  If your going to run different wheels and tyres at these events to the road then even at 1B/1C level there are numerous options.

To reduce your understeer, moving to a tyre more performance focused, Toyo, Dunlop, Avon, Yokohama, Nankang etc will all assist.  Upgraded suspension and the ability to adjust the bump/rebound and ride height of the car will also make a significant improvement.

With regards to brakes I have moved an Exige S2 and S1 over to Mintex, we had some development compounds made and they have proved to be very successful.  Theses pads are providing great feedback both on road and track without excessive disc wear.  The cars have done over 8,000 road miles and over 10 trackdays each before requiring a new set.

Feel free to give me a shout if I can assist.

Tom
