Chris_edeson
now i know Lotus cars all have their own quirky noises and rattles. however mine has developed one and im not sure its just a nothing to worry about one. started on the way home from LITP and then again this morning/afternoon. it seems to only start well in to a journey, it doesnt seem to happen on a short trip to the shop... seems to be from the rear.... any ideas? Jonathan E
Hard to tell from the vid Chris, By your description I'd go for the dreaded rear inboard toelink, gets hot on a long run and starts knocking but I'm far from being an expert. Later cars had a heat shield to avoid the problem, I've got a spare one in the shed if it's of any use?

I will hopefully get it diagnosed some time soon then if that is the offending part I will give you a shout .
Martin R
As you well know there are knocks you can ignore on an Elise and some you cant. I dont like the sound of that one personally. Get it round Gavs.
AlanS1
I would be definitely be jacking the car up and checking the rear end for any play. Probably best to get everything hot first as you have mentioned that it doesn't knock until hot.
