Sound?

Does any1 know what size rear speakers would go in a 2001 Elise s2? And also any recommendations for a decent head unit? The ones in my are crap and due for an upgrade. Normally don't have it turned on when out with roof off but for the odd commute and keeping the Mrs happy while on board I need something in it!

Cheers

Chris

I replaced the head unit with a basic Pioneer Bluetooth one:

Works a treat on hands free and streaming Spotify from the phone. Sound quality is marginally better than the Alpine the car came with.  However the only way to get decent sound in an Elise is a small powered sub (IMHO).

I put in a little Kenwood one in the passenger foot well above the footrest. HUGE difference, as it takes pressure off the rest of the speakers in the car.  Not really in the Lotus ethos though is it :(

+1 for adding a small sub. You may well find doing that gives you enough satisfaction from your existing HU and speakers. You're always going to be limited by the size of the drivers and the enclosure otherwise.

Hi Chris, i fitted a Sony MEX N4100BT in mine. Same as yours 2001 Elise. I replaced the front speakers also and the back and without a sub they sound fine. The size of the back speakers is 13cm...there is more info regarding power output here!
