Johnny Boy
VVC 160 Engine acquired intention to strip down, rebuild as replacement in my S1 Just about to remove Cylinder Head is it best practice to lock crankshaft prior to removing Head Bolts Cant lock using flywheel as there is not one attached to engine
Martin R
No need just to remove head bolts. Make sure its at 90 Degrees before top dead centre before you start. I hope the front crank pulley is loose? Could be fun undoing it without a means to lock the crank?
Johnny Boy
Cheers Martin, Thankfully the crank pulley is off. Keen to see condition of cylinder head, block/liner heights etc

Stumason10
My liners were flush. DVA took out the crank and liners and with a emery paper wrapped around a lump of steel and used that to do the job....still going strong!
