Wildspark
Anyone used the ones on EBay, and how does it compare to the ones from the usual suspects? There seen to be good reports in the past on here and Seloc, and at half the price it seems worth a go. Not sure if the ones there now are from the same supplier as before. DeanB
I think the ones on ebay are from a guy near Retford. If so he's a member on here and a nice chap. I have had the nylon gearbox bush kit ftom him which is a very good thing so I would expect his short shifter to be good. If that helps.
Fidel
I got one of the eBay short shifters, seems to work fine....there isn't much too them so I struggle to see what would be different on the ones that cost twice as much.....

Thanks. There seems to be just one EBay seller for these at the moment. Was that the one you got? Item number 131805294882 Thanks.

Wildspark
Thanks, I've ordered one. Can't resist a low cost mod!
Wildspark
Received and fitted. Seems to work well. I think you need to have a gearbox and shift mechanism that all works well, otherwise the reduced leverage could be a problem. Mine was all quite slick with the old lever, so the short one is a real improvement.
winthattt
I tried one (of the expensive ones) and did not like it. I put the car back to standard quite quickly. I did not like the feel of the short shifter. The better bushes for the linkage at the gearbox are worthwhile.

I am toying with a short shifter but am a little worried the reduced leverage will make it a bit too stiff. Is that what you found winthatt? winthattt
Dean, I found the position was too low and the change felt notchy. I never noticed it being too stiff. The change is very light on the Pg-1 anyway. S1s have a much better gear change than Toyota cars straight with no mods. No idea why I messed with it. It is worth changing the bushes when the OEM ones are worn. My experience is, that with the exception of the dampers, Lotus cars are pretty good in OEM spec. Wildspark
Well I've only driven mine a bit so far, but I do prefer it. Yes it is a bit more notchy, but the shorter travel feels right.
Fidel
If your gear change is already stiff or notchy a short shifter will only make it worse....I wasn't sure I'd get on with one but I figured for the sake of £30 or so I'd give it a go...
