A 45-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving following a police pursuit down the A38.

Police said officers from an armed response vehicle on routine patrol attempted to stop a car on the A38 near Stretton.

They then claim the Lotus Elise refused to stop for them and a chase began. A stinger device was deployed near Lichfield but the vehicle allegedly continued until a second stinger was used and the car was forced to stop.

The incident happened at 8pm on April 29 and the alleged driver of the car, who is from Stretton, was arrested and subsequently charged with dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, driving without valid insurance and failing to provide a breath test.

He was released on bail to appear before magistrates at Burton Magistrates Court on June 3

How inconsiderate...

... do the police not know stocks of AD07's are running out :)

Seriously though I agree with Dean unlikely to be stolen given the charges. Sounds like the driver had a few too many beers, and resultant dutch courage to try and get away. :(
