ollie
Hello I've been tinkering over the weekend getting my car ready for a track day tomorrow. I noticed earlier that the rear Damper Is leaking not to sure how long for. Just wondering handling/Regular trackday attendees will I still be Ok or is it a big NO Thanks
DeanB
I would say it's a big no - the car will handle terribly and will get even worse as it loses more fluid. Your chances of having an off will dramatically increase and you probably won't enjoy driving the car in that condition. I also think the track day organiser wouldn't let you on if he knew - cars taking part in track days should be able to pass an mot test as a bare minimum imo. Sorry to be a spoilsport. ollie
Damn I mean it's not constantly flowing out but you can see its been seeping out. I've not noticed any difference while driving it on the road motorway and B roads but know what you mean it could spoil the day for me. Been looking forward to this as well
ollie
Anyone fancy fitting some new rear Dampers today. Id give it a go but don't own any compression tools and would prefer someone with the know-how to do it. Any takers on this fine day Then i may just be able to get a trackday in next week
Steve J
You wouldn't want damper oil on your tyres on a track day, so swapping them now is the safest approach.
ollie
Yes thats very true. I think im more annoyed at myself because i have brand new dampers and springs ive had sat here for 5+ Months. I suppose i dont normally tend to take the tyres of weekly though and there was no sign of residue on the drive or bodywork. Only spotted it as id been doing a bit of tinkering over the weekend. Tends to be the way my luck normally goes though
DanP
Unless it's an airfield day with loads and loads of run off, and only one car on the circuit at a time.
