That's very cheap but most isn't much use.  You need a low profile jack (I think I got mine from ScrewFix for about £80 as they had more choice at that sort of price than Demon Tweeks) and the trolley (car creeper) will never go under an Elise. Well it will, but not with you lying on it.  Halford's axle stands, bought separately, are OK though IMHO.

I have just recently brought a low entry jack from SGS, not had a chance to use it yet, but it seems better built than the Clarke racing jack. Not the sort of thing to put in the boot for track days, as it is mega heavy, but for a garage it seems like it will really do the job. I went for the 3 ton in order to jack up the golf and I could barely carry it to the garage

Anything I should specifically look out for? To be used for occasional use on the Elise. Would something like this do the job:

Or will I need a low profile jack?

Cheers

Chris I have a light weight ally jack from Costco, same one as Gav's was about 120/130 brilliant bit of kit.

Just seen a remarkably similar thread on seloc. Seems to be very similar conclusions!

Thanks for all the advice chaps

My conclusion is probably to go for Alex or russ's if I'm feeling flush, or the low profille halfords one if not (less than half the price)

Chris - This SGS jack is at least as good as Halfords & currently cheaper (I have one). They are only Raynesway Derby so not even far to pick one up face to face... SGS do a large & pretty good selection.

You can buy this jack together with good axle stands for £41!

Do I need anything to sit between the jack / axel stands and the car? I see hockey pucks come in for a lot of love on SELOC!

Chris - I got a rubber SGS hockey puck & also the rubber caps for the ratchet axle stands...

Though they are undoubtedly convenient they do add a few quid onto the total & IMO should be half the price they are.

With the rest of the kit being such good value it makes this aspect stick out a wee bit!

Those bits do seem a bit over priced, but they will take me over the free delivery threshold so I'll justify it as a half price saving because of that!
