S2 Won't Start!

HI all,

I was wondering if anyone has any experience in the following with an Elise S2 K series and could help.

Basically it won't start. I get all the dashboard lights and the battery is fairly new.

I have replaced the starter motor also but I still can't get it to go.

Shortly before it completely stopped I had intermittent issues with starting which resulted in me taking the battery terminal off putting it back on and then the car would start.

I'm just not sure what else to check without being silly is there anything obvious?

Thanks

Steve

Check the connections onto the starter motor. There is a spade connector that has a habit of coming off.

If that is ok check the earth straps, the one that connects to the gearbox is the usual suspect.

Not done it myself, but the bit you need looks simple enough (and a temp solution could probably be fabricated from a couple of bits of wire)

Not a quick job though, as you would hope being a security issue, needs the seats and rear bulkhead trim out, google it and you should find enough.

If you have eliminated the usual suspects then something to try.

What happens when you turn the key, does the starter motor engage and turn the engine?

I've not done that no. Is it easy to do?

When I turn the key I get nothing. Just the dash lights. I will go over the starter motor again first as thats an easier job to look at but then yeah I might have to try the immobiliser bypass.

Thanks for the help.

I had this in the s1 turned out to be the starter motors spade connector, as have plenty of other people.

Hi, so I've cleaned the terminal and basically got no change.

Key goes in dash lights up and I get a click when I turn it over. I've noticed this starter however is different to the old one. The new one has an extra spade connection on. After getting another starter that also has a second spade connector on however I can't find where this connects too. Any ideas?

A few years ago someone asked for help with an S2 that wouldn't start, then finally admitted they had been turning the key, instead of pressing the button.  If it had been me I would never have admitted it publically

Well I've definitely been trying to start it correctly although I am expecting it to be something as simple and daft as that.

Had a new battery tested on the car today and still nothing. 12.9v at the starter and at the battery. Tried to 're earth again off the gearbox and still nothing.

Getting a bit frustrated now flipping car.

Evening all, I was wondering if someone could take a picture or describe where the wires go. I'm starting to think maybebthats a problem altho I highly doubt it just have a feeling its something really simple.

Thanks
