DeanB
I have a mate who had some titanium wheel nuts made for his Triumph PI. I have asked him to look in to the cost of some for the elise. They are beautifully made, strong and about half the weight of standard steel but they aren't cheap as you might imagine. I expect a full car set will be £200 ish. Part of me thinks this is madness but part of me things I don't care I want some! Would anyone else be interested?

jody391
Crikey! What price were they if not on a group buy? Like the idea of them but surely these are lighter? https://www.eliseparts.com/products/show/76/495/lightweight-wheel-nuts/

DeanB
I know I know! You are all absolutely right! But still .... The ally ones are cheaper but I'm not sure I trust ally on a wheel bolt. I have been having a look on racecarsdirect and it seems titanium wheel nuts aren't uncommon in the racing world. Daveb99
Imagine how many times your wife will use it Dean - "I will buy it if I want it, I seem to remember you spending £200 on some wheel bolts....." Could end up costing you a lot more than £

Spitfire
Please have a quick check on the SELOC forum regarding these. For your information only there is a massive difference between nuts and bolts, apart from the obvious Bolts work, they take the varying tension loads internally as such need to be capable of carrying these changing loads over a whole range of criteria. Nuts only have to hold the bolt via the thread so only need to be strong enough to do this, usually it means they are the same material spec as the bolt but not necessarily. Swapping the wheel nuts for high specification aluminium alloys or Ti is a standard mod and a good supplier will offer a guarantee of performance. This is not really an Ebay job IMHO Ti bolts are something else entirely and unless you have a written guarantee or the capability to sit and work through the stress and fatigue information you need to be much, much more careful than with nuts. For sure the Ti are bolts are not as strong as the O.E steel versions so there should be alarm bells ringing in your head at the very least. I'n not saying they are not suitable but there is certainly a degredation in performance and this needs to be known before risking the obvious. DeanB
Thanks Gaz. I think I had recovered from my temporary insanity anyway but that seals it! I realise of course that Alex B will take the piss out of me forever for this!
