Looking Into The Rear Wheel Arch (Elise S1)

Hi guys,

Can I pick your expert brains? I'm doing some general cleaning on my car one corner at a time (not anything fancy like a suspension refresh, just cleaning and painting). Anyway...

Question 1: I've removed the rear offside inner wheel arch and can see behind it another panel that has three bolts on its bottom edge.  However, I don't know what else is holding it in place or whether there is anything to be gained (or broken) by removing it. Is it bonded in on its top edge?

Question 2: Looking into the engine compartment along the drive shaft I can see a rubber bush (circled in red).  Does this look broken to you?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Bob

Hi Bob,

Question 1 - The panel is bonded to the clam, the bolts only need to be removed if you pan to remove the clam.

Question 2 - I have the uprated mount so mine is solid, I know some bushes have gaps in them to allow to absorb some of the vibration, Your photo looks to show this as oppose to a failed bush. Get someone to pull & push the engine forward and backward while you look at the bush, The engine should only move 5-10mm max.

Andy.
