mambosasa
Ahhhh! As some of you already know, my beloved Lucy has lost her supercharger nose. More specifically, the nose shaft broke and the the pulley went flying off somewhere on the M6. Unfortunately for me, I didn't understand the issue quickly enough, and by the time I realised that the engine lost its cooling ability, the temps were already up to 138 degrees. Not sure whether or not the engine is damaged in any way, but my hope is that the damage is limited to the 'charger. Anyway, I have now ordered all the bits that I need to refurb the charger, including a new uprated shaft from Italy. Now, I would have loved to have done the work myself, but given the amount of free time that I have these days (i.e. none!) I have decided to let Dr. Gav at Unit 4 to sort it out for me! I received loads of feedback and support from the chaps on Seloc, including Ben and our very own Matt and Miles. Thanks for the support. The story so far... Broken nose... The AA pickup... Upon closer inspection.... Got all the bits... A good friend with a very capable beast to tow Lucy away... Thank you Matt! En route to Dr Gav... Dr. Gav's operating theatre awaiting surgery. Its likely to be a couple of weeks or so before the 'charger is all back together again and only at that point would we know whether or not the engine is still in good working order. In fact, speaking to Matt, he believes that it may even take longer than that, perhaps a couple of hundred miles. Lets hope the engine is okay and we are back hooning soon. More to follow... Bis. mambosasa
Some progress made. Gav has now completed the 'charger rebuild and it's back on the car! He cleaned the charge cooler core for me. It was a bit grimy but not too bad considering Looking as good as new. Gav will spend some time over the coming days checking over the engine and we hope that it's good and the over heating did not damage the engine. So far, so good though. mambosasa
Just picked her up today! Back together again. Great job by Dr Gav once again. I took it easy driving home as I just want all the new bits to settle down a little, check that the engine feels right and start pushing it again. Initial thoughts, its seems that the engine is okay, but I will do a bit more driving and see if anything changes. Big thanks to Gavin ( who had to pick me up from one of those mass transportation thingies port or train station). I will report back after some mileage. Leigh, the bay is all ready for you matey. Luscious Lucy. I was admiring her from underneath last week... Never look at a lady from underneath She is still running the prototype side skirts, not the final production version.
