J M Stott
Hi all, Please re-direct me as i'm sure this will have been covered before. I am wanting to paint up the calipers on my Elise S2, figured the best way to do this is to take them off the but leave the brake lines etc still attached. Reason i want to do it this way is so i can make a neater job and not paint any of the bolts, nipples etc. I also have a new set of the bolts, can these be replaced without any hassle? want to avoid bleeding them if at all possible, Thanks James
russelld
I think it would be easier to mask up the brake line and the bleed nipple and paint then while they are attached to the hub carries, use a small artists brush for the delicate areas. Removing the discs and pads first would also help. They will move around too much if you attempt it the way you are thinking. The bolts are easy to replace just do them one at a time and tighten to the correct torque. Russ.
jonnyfox
Remove completely if they looked like mine. Scape off gunk, bath in vinegar for 5 hours, remove rubber boots where possible and bleed nipples then paint. http://www.midlandslotus.co.uk/forum/topic/64554-exige-s1-refurb-underway/page-11#entry286625
Steve J
3 levels of job thoroughness. 1 paint whilst attached 2 unbolt clean and paint with brake pipe attached 3 completely disconnect It's easy to do 2 and get a good result but 3 means you're obsessed.
