Alex B
So the guys at jaguar believe electric power steering makes you feel connected to the road.... From my experience of electric power steering car it's the total opposite.
chumaxa
You need powered steerig wheel on this kind of cars, but anyway, according to the first drive test, yes there is good feedback back from steering wheel.

Black exterior, black leather and blacked out windows.....class A's anyone? You can't really have exec saloons without electric power steering like this though. The few cars I've owned/driven with electric power steering have always felt somewhat disconnected from the road.
chumaxa
Depend on the model, I have got a 250 megane rs cup, with powered steering, feels very sharp and responsive, great feedback from the road, I guess you can not compare with le Lotus, but it feels very good anyway. In the other hand, I have tried a couple of bmw, steering was awfull, no conexion at all ... But Jaguar are known for the suspension and steering, nothing to worry about ! Matt C
Having had 3 XF S and now have an 180PS XE Sport, the steering feel is really good. Well weighted. Just today got back from 3 days drive to Munich and back (1400mile round trip) and got on with it very well. Got easily over 50mpg on way down which included a fair few runs unto 130+mph! (its about 15mpg at that speed!) If anyone wants to try it, you are welcome to! Engine options will be increasing too....
Dennis
I got an invite to pop to some hotel miles away to try out a random XF on a 5 mile route, I decided not to bother and will push the dealer for a weekends use
macey
Dumb question. How can it reduce co2 emissions and compared with what? Where does the electricity come from to drive the power steering? The engine via a conversion from mechanical power to electricity of course. That power conversion incurs efficiency losses. I don't know if it's still the case but at least SOME power steering used to be driven from the inlet manifold vacuum. How can electric power steering produce less co2 than that? Dennis
May be they could scavenge some electric from braking? The electric motor could be light wait or more efficient? You need to remember especially when considering efficiency claims in cars....lies, dam lies and statistics
AL.
I ordered the new XF about 2 months ago ( first car I have ever ordered without seeing or driving in the flesh! ) and can't wait....but unfortunately I will have to........collect end of October! Black exterior, black leather and blacked out windows.....class A's anyone? You can't really have exec saloons without electric power steering like this though. I was torn between ordering the XE or the XF to replace my Volvo and plumped for the XE. I thought it made more sense for the times where I have to park in tight, underground car parks and because I don't often get rear passengers. I also thought it might come quicker than the XF, but I ordered in June and it's not due for delivery to the dealership until the end of October.
