Lol Dobbo, no. No Martin, a valve for a Merlin is somewhat smaller. Not a compressor either...

Must be a ships diesel engine to be that size?

Yes Martin. It's a valve from the MAN diesel engines used in the QE2. Note the vanes to help the valve spin so the valve and its seat don't wear oddly. Brilliantly lovely bit of engineering, this is going to be a candle stick in my place...
