macey
Hello, I have just had new forged wheels and new tyres fitted.I have 205/16's fitted on the front. When I drove off the tyre place's forecourt, I noticed a rubbing kind of noise when I was on full lock.Comments would be appreciated.Previous tyres were 175/16's and had no problem
mwn11
Guess it would be the tyres rubbing on the arch liners? Any reason went for 205's over 195's?

Was told 195's would be hard to get. I have ad08 205/45R16's and 225/45R17's.

scatty
I put 205's on my last exige, and I'm sure I had 205/50/16... Standard suspension and they didn't rub at all.... 195s are pretty difficult to get hold of, other than your semi slick tyres or rubbish ones... Ad08 were a great tyre... macey
He's right on that front.... Is your car standard ride height?? I think so, I'm not an expert on these things. The car is an ex Murray Lotus demo car with a few extra bit & bobs like TRD and 'sports' exhaust. It also has Bilstiens, is that likely a factor? scatty
Mine was on standard billies..... I'm no tyre size expert but is there any difference between the size you have got and the size 205/50/16????
macey
The 45/50 figure is the %age of the width of the tyre as an expression of the 'height' of the tyre. So, for example, a 205/50 tyre is 102.5 cm 'high'. Hence a 205/50 has a greater circumference than a 205/45 tyre given the same wheel size. It could also be said that a 205/45 is lower 'profile' than a 205/50 tyre. At least, that's my understanding of all this.
Pie Warrior
205 is the width of the actual tyre from inner edge to outer edge...the profile of going from a 175/50 to a 205/50 would decrease the clearance to the inner wing by about 15mm

Perhaps I didn't make that clear.
