AndyPeat
Ta, but resistor pack symptom is that some speeds work, while others don't. If all of them go/come back at the same time, it's gona be something else Dan Double bugger! Are you talking about the resistor pack, or the fan relay? Sorry, I was talking about the resistor pack. I'll go back to bed now...
StormS2
£800!the car has had a uprated alloy radiator fitted which I've got to say is so much better than the oem one, keeps engine temps much lower, the fan obviously broke after the rad was done I'm guessing, think I'm going to have to start phoning round for quotes:(

I didn't keep the invoice, but IIRC it was <£40 in parts, the rest was main dealer labour rates. Could you get a mate round and have a "clam off" party? Seeing the work you did with your rear diffuser panel this seems like it could be within your DIY levels, but you need two people. http://wiki.seloc.org/a/Remove_S2_front_clamshell
StormS2
That seems a lot of work, the thing that'd worry me is that everything went back correctly! can't believe all that just to fix a fan heater, are these definitely not accessible when removing the undertrays? It is what it is I'm afraid I've never done it, but would either want help from someone that had done it before, or bite the bullet and take it to an independent specialist and pay them to do it. Like that!!! Lol I'm going to wait till winter and do the "clam off". Luckily I've got a garage. So I can take the clam off, and see what bits i need to order my leisure. Resistor pack, fan relay, alloy radiator - is there anything else I need to swap while I've got the clam off? Dan

You can check there.First time my fan went on the blink, Wriggling the appropriate fuse seemed to make a difference. https://www.eliseparts.com/products/show/61/410/electrical-relays/ Says to check the earthing before writing off he relay. Any idea what that means?
Wildspark
There are earthing points to the chassis at the front and rear of the car on the pax side. I think the front one can only be got at with the clam off, though I'm not certain about that. Presumably the fan current returns through the chassis, so the relays can be good but the fan doesn't work if the earth point is bad.
