Lotus VSI Section JM reads as follows:

"Use only a fresh supply of DOT 4 non-mineral type fluid, identified by a yellow and black symbol. Do NOT use DOT 5 silicone fluid, or any fluid which has been exposed to the atmosphere for more than a brief period, or any fluid suspected of being wet, dirty or contaminated. Do not overfill."

Section TDV lists brake fluid as:

Brake system hydraulic fluid Capacity 450 cc Type Non-mineral (non-petroleum) hydraulic fluid Specification DOT 4 Approved product PETRONAS Tutela Top 4 brake fluid Lotus approval reference PE-00139

You'll maybe need to replace SRF twice a year at least, excellent stuff though. But I used Motul RBF660 towards the end of my S2 ownership, as well as being cheaper I found it excellent too. I know Track Group use it on there race cars.

Edit due to unable to multi task!

Using a different brake fluid will make no difference to warranty. Srf is what lotus sport uses on the cup cars/ racing cars. When i had my car serviced there it was always a service option.
