jonnyfox
The battery tray was a bloody nightmare to get out, most of the front fixings had to be ground off. I've also made a start removing the AC. The Aluminium and the crash structure took around 10-12 hours to clean. It was a never ending job but it's amazing what toothpaste, soap, brake & clutch cleaner, a Dremmel, magic sponge, lots of rags & a brush will do..... Martin R
Jon, if you have not put the suspension back on? Give all the steel mounting inserts a good coat of ACF 50 as well as the surrounding area, http://www.eliseparts.com/products/show/37/864/corrosion-block-spray/

jonnyfox
Lol actually I had three good piles of it, could possibly of been. And thanks fella's I haven't actually done anything since March, I've just been way to busy. I'm posting this up now to spur me on. This is the intro on Exiges.com.... I'll post images up to where I am next week. Due to very busy times both at work and at home I'm a little behind to where I'd like to be right now and haven't physically done any work on the car since March. I'm hoping to get a good 4-6 weeks working on it now but I'm also getting over keyhole surgery to my knee done just this week. I have in the meantime been buying bits an bobs to help recondition/replace parts on the car and deciding where my final goal should be. I figured I'd start this thread today to help push me into getting it well underway. I'd like to keep it as standard as possible although not completely standard. I'll be using OE parts as well as parts from our specialist friends (thank you so far Dave). George (Esprit) has also leant a hand and supplied drawings for the battery clamp, undertray and diffuser. A thanks in advance should be paid to many people including those I've badgered and will continuously badger throughout this restoration. I'd also like to add that this car was a properly good servant to its last two owners (last one being Beefcake on here/MarkH admin on MLOC) and the work carried out or condition is by no means a slur on there ownership. I recently purchased or currently I'm purchasing MarcP's VVC K Trophy Engine and B4BP gearbox. I'll likely be getting this slightly overhauled and strengthing the bottom end. I won't be doing a great deal to it if I'm honest but I will be using it so I can keep the original VHPD and gearbox tucked up safe and sound. Currently it has 52k on it. I will be keeping all the parts I remove. This car will be staying a K. I am not making a track car more a road car that I may have a little fun with very occasionally on track. When this is finished though I'll be buying a track car to keep the S1company. Well that's the plan, get this done and have some fun later. I'm going to town on this car, no doubt I'll be changing my mind along the way, making mistakes, calling for help but I'm determined to do a job that is nothing short of a damn good one. Cheers Jonny
