scatty
do you reckon you could live with it everyday... I'm just thinking of the higher sills..... My s2 wasn't really any bother, but I'm worried this is another level of contortion.... Ta..... http://classifieds.seloc.org/ads/s1-exige-na-honda/ It looks bloody lovely though....... DeanB
no why not have a look at an Evora?
richbk
well that ended that topic ! nice motor, but as above not an everyday motor, a £500 run about with cheap issuance and running costs is surely the answer, makes driving the lori so much more fun too
Dr H
They are the best looking Lotus to my eyes. The Honda would make it more reliable on a day to day basis but I really think you have to be pretty hardcore to use it as an only car. As awesome as it is I could see it becoming a bit of a drag in traffic and when it's pissing with rain and freezing cold.
scatty
well that ended that topic ! Ha ha ha, that made me chuckle..... Right, back to the drawing board. At least they are popping up for sale... S2 exige it is then...... The Evora doesn't quite do it for me dean, as lovely as they are....

chris_h
S1 won't deprecated though. Unless you put a lot of miles on it as an everyday car
scatty
I might phone the insurance company tomorrow and check for insuring 2 cars. I've got a pug 206 as a run around at the minute. I've never run 2 cars on a multi car policy. Il look into it.....
Mark H
I've done it as an everyday car and I'm 6ft 4" and the sills are not a problem. I agree the Evora would be a much more fun "every day" car though!

I'm now using my Elise S every day and it is bloody lovely too - ha. It is also slightly unhinged, which helps enormously!!
G
That S1 is sooooo nice! Agree it's still the best shape lotus have produced
PeterField
Scatty, get it brought once you've got one i'm sure you'll find a way to make it work! Multicar policy sounds ideal...and if you've already got the 2nd car sorted.....
Simon Mac
S1 + daily, or an S2 as a single vehicle would be more sensible. I ran an S2 for 5 years as my only car, yes it can be done, but I used to hate how it cost me more than I could reclaim in fuel for work trips involving motorways, how I'd have to organise borrowing wife's car for nipping out to pig up stuff that wouldn't fit (and the ensuing requirement to put fuel in the thing which seems to be permanently showing the fuel light). It also lost it's sparkle, as it becomes just a car in some ways When the Exige went, I ended up getting the Elise as a second car and using it only for pleasure. This meant every time I drove it, it had some magic. It's definitely the way forward Is the S1 Exige the right second car? Personally I love the shape, and if you aren't out to track it much, I'd say yes. To me they are becoming a bit too special to be treated as a thrashing toy. It's a bit of an odd one, it's the best performing on track, but given their future (or present) classic status, an Elise or S2 might actually be more fun as you aren't so worried about looking after it's value. I face a somewhat similar issue with my S3 at the moment, it will obviously blow the Elise into the weeds, I just know I'll be a bit more conscious of it's value come the track than I would be in the old Elise, and maybe I won't have quite so much fun as a result. (I'll let you know!)
scatty
It's bloody Alex's fault. I wouldn't have noticed it. I think an s2 exige is a better daily option, I lived with one for just over a year so that's no problem. Il see what the cost of a multi car policy is. And take it from there.... It's a scrumptious looking thing that's for sure....
