I had mine done by tracker direct at lotus silverstone. It was good as the dealer helped remove the panels etc but a specialist fitted the equipment.

Little Hint. You can negotiate the price with tracker direct. I got about £100 off the installation and got 3 years for the price of 2 on the subscription.

I would say get it fitted at the dealership. I had to have one fitted in the daily and was told in no uncertain terms that the warranty would be invalidated if a non dealer approved (in other words non dealer) fitter touched the car. That was with JLR so can't speak for Lotus but would recommend clarifying that aspect with the dealer before anyone else touches the car.

Hi Simon

Are you with a mainstream insurer or a specialist sports car insurer?

Mainstream insurers own tracker companies, and push you to buy one.

AFAIK, specialist sports car insurers don't ask for trackers.

If you don't want a tracker, its worth changing insurance companies.

Cheers

Dan

edit: Ive just seen the thread on your new car. Maybe you will need a tracker after all!!!bangin.gif

lol, yep.  My Elise was already on a Lotus specialist insurance policy (with track day cover), so I've just got them to change the cover until expiration. I hadn't given it a thought up until the broker said a tracker is now mandatory. (The Elise didn't need one).

I'm guessing it's a value thing, now it's over a threshold.

I use smart track on the defender and they have been really good, no issues re false alarms due to the dealer not turning the alarm off properly etc (when installed it was connected to the Clifford alarm)

Legacystorm, sorry but if you want to continue promoting yourself you will need to become an advertiser. We have no problem with an initial free post advertising your services as that benefits everyone. It's not fair however on the people who do pay for advertising and support this club for you to continue to do so. All the money from advertising goes back in to the club to keep it going. :)
