Need Your Help For Import.

Hi guys,

so someone came to see my exige friday morning, and took it home right after. SO I have not had the time to say goodbye ! But now is the time to get the next one. I ma in contact with someone in france who has a 220s.

Now, what I have is the previous uk number plate, and when I go to gocompare, the car seems to be still referenced. I guess that is a good news ?

So how to proceed to get the car back on UK road ? I will chase Lotus to have a new COC as the current owner used it to get the french paper.

How to get the car back on its original number plate ??? And make sure that I am not going to pay the VAT or things like that.

The car has been exported 2 years ago, and is from 2008.

No vat as within EU. Insure it on the chassis number and drive it home. Fill in relevant forms, get COC from Lotus, get it mot'd, pay your road tax and your sorted.

HPI the old reg. it might be cat d etc...many were that were exported.

It probably will go back on original reg. but with the DVLA who knows!?

As a follow up, you may not need COC as its been registered here before.

I have the HPI, it is all right. What do you call fill in the relevant forms ? this is really the problem, how to get the V5 with my name.

Here;

You need the import pack part way down the page. It's easy and seems more daunting than it is.

You can't do any of this without an MOT. You need to get it mot'd first.

Ok so anyway I have to buy and get the car to UK first. The MOT should be easy as anything as been changed on the car when it went to France, only a additional thing in the front lamp, which will be removed. Any recommendation for the MOT, it is a 260 upgrade with GT3 exhaust, that is all right in term of emission and so ?

Oh and an other thing, will the car be considered as imported ?

Were the headlamps changed? If so you'll need RHD lamps.

Should be ok, one I imported had the 260 upgrade, as long as it's still got the cat you'll be fine.

Are you talking in terms of insurance? If so then no, it's a UK car that's just been re-imported.

Hope this helps.

I have called my insurance, apparently the guy behind the phone has no idea what he is talking about (constantly going to his manager for informations, can not answer a simple question by his own), he told me I need a certificate of individual vehicule approval, but if I am right, I do not need it my the COC ? Right ??

I guess you get what you pay for with these cheap insurance ... 3 pounds phone call for no improvement.
