Mounts For K&n Air Filter

Hi All, does anyone know if there is a fitting kit / support bracket for a K&N air filter on an Elise S1?

I did a temporary Heath Robinson job until I was sure if I wanted to keep it but it makes a nice noise and now I need to do something permanent.

It currently looks like this. Not good!!!

I have a piece of rigid plastic pipe which holds mine very well and there is no need for a bracket. There is also a short rubber pipe section close to the throttle body which creates a slight bend. The original pipe as shown in your photo is not used. It all came in a kit if I remember correctly.

Just get a bit of silicon hose, I had a Pipercross viper on mine like this without any issue (it has a carbon fibre and Ali housing to shield it from the heat so heavier than the open cone K&n)

Double check the size but these guys are reasonably priced and quick

Thanks all,

Have done some reading and K&N gets mixed reviews especially being exposed to the hot environment of the engine bay!

Given it some thought and as nothing seems to to be right with current set up have decided to go with a Hurricane with direct feed from the side air vent.

'Other options are available' but as i'm a technical numpty and hurricane gets good reviews seems to be a good solution.

You will get little from a hurricane other than noise, you would be better looking/waiting for a Pipercross viper or if you have the budget a ITG maxogen (great bits of kit) ebay is your friend if you are not in a rush

Hey Taff, are you getting a filter then? I have the ITG but an S2 version, its a much cleaner flow in my opinion.

I bought mine from a chap on Flebay for £80 and then last year bought a new filter element from Merlin motor sport which was around £50 sheets https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p/itg-maxogen-air-filter-jc60-coned-itg-jc60c

Or buy one of these if your not fussed about the carbon.. https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/s/itg-air-filters/itg-air-boxes

You could buy a filter element and then keep a look out for the carbon or aluminium box for it??

All you would then need is a silicone hose which is easy to get your hands on and some ducting to the side scoop again this is easy to source.

Cheers Jody, have gone for a Hurricane for now (too embarrassed with lash up job and the flexi hose is clearly not right).

Given Dennis's comments will fit it but spend some time looking at alternatives.

Your parts list could also help!

Will let you know how it goes!
