DeanB
Blimey! Scrapping? surely not! he's a big man but he's out of shape (as someone once said). The other fella must have been really feeble if Jezza thought he could take him :-)
MSH
I would imagine "fracas" in this instance would mean more verbal than physical, as contentious as Jeremy Clarkson is, I don't see him as a violent person. I hope this isn't the end of his Topgear career as I enjoy his brand of broadcasting. You know what to expect from him and he plays to his stereotype, knowing full well it drives the "right on" brigade crackers. However, I do wonder if the Beeb are looking for a way to get rid of him and suspect this may be the writing on the wall for him.
Christopher Lawless
Surely Topgear gets too many viewers to take it off air? It must be one of the biggest BBC2 programmes? Think this will end up being a slap on the wrist another "final warning" and then the show will be back in a couple of weeks.

It will be interesting to see which way the BBC choose to play this. Without JC the show is effectively dead and the BBC will have spent minimum £15million, probably closer to £20m with production costs, on a show that no longer has legs. It looks like they're damned if they sack him and damned if they don't.

MSH
Isn't Topgear one of the Beeb's biggest selling programmes abroad too? Ending Topgear would surely hit BBC revenues. I would imagine so. I do know they bought the controlling stake from Clarkson for £14m in 2012 so have a vested interest in keeping the show going. The problem they face would be how to do that without Clarkson, assuming they do actually sack him.

Dennis
He punch a colleague the beeb has to suspend him, what else are thye supposed to do, turn the other cheak? the skeptic in me thinks JC may not be so bothered and may even get him out of a contract (assuming he was wanting out of anyway) to get more money else where, when the similar thing happened to Jonathan Ross it made him £'s (personal sKeptical view without any basis what so ever, JC do not sue me for slander :0) )

scatty
He doesn't seem like a violent chap. More like a bit of argy-bargy.... Part of me thinks he wants to be sacked, he seems to be doing all he can to get sacked.. How many warnings and final warnings can you give someone... He's got them over a barrel me thinks... chris_h
Wow 730,000 people have now signed the petition. This is going to be tricky for the BBC to have an outcome that pleases everyone.
Reg
From what I've read, he's only alleged to have punched the producer, and that the producer wasn't the person who report the fracas. Top Gear is dead in the water without him. It's a shame the BBC didn't think to suspend any of the 'alleged' peadophiles it employed....
