Who Stayed Where In Derbyshire Last Year?

Recommended Posts

I intend to post up some recommendations for places to stay for this year's Lotus in the Peak and would like to hear from those that stayed over last year. Where did you stay? would you recommend it? if so, why? what was good/bad about it? how much was it? and so on...

Quite a few of those travelling last year asked for recommendations so I will try and oblige this year. I am hoping we get more from further afield, I think it adds to the special feeling of the event knowing people have made that extra commitment.

Thanks

Dean

We stayed here last year http://www.foldfarmbeeley.co.uk

Lovely little BnB. Two nights minimum stay, cracking fry up, nice rooms with lovely views, 2minute walk from the Devonshire in Beeley.

Think it was around the 160/180 mark for two nights.

Will potentially be staying there again this year.

we are probably havng the Saturday do somewhere else thisyear.

Oh I am disappointed - I was looking forward to paying £4.95 for a small bowl of peanuts and £14.95 for Fish & Chips!  Can I volunteer to reccy a boozer for the Saturday night meet?

Andrew I hate to say this but we are now, probably, going back to the Dev at Beeley. They have a new manager (the old one, who I thought was rubbish, left suddenly I hear) who is much more helpful. I have spoken with them there this week and they will rope the majority of the car park off for us and do other bits and bobs to improve it over last year. The menu will be better but I am afraid it ain't never gonna be cheap! Provided we get what we pay for though I think that is ok. Maybe you could sell one of your stable of cars if you need to liquidise an asset? the Corvette perhaps? :-)

Thanks mate. What are the £35 rooms like? they can't be much cop at that price surely? We could do with some recommendations for cheaper places but they still need to be nice. When you have the info can you post it on the new places to stay thread we have running please?

You're a gent.

I just realized that its the Buxton festival and Carnival weekend.......

the whole market place has a fun fair for the whole weekend and on the Saturday there is a huge carnival from 2pm....

carnival is usually on for a couple of hours.......

if people would still be interested then I'll post the info.....

Great minds....... - the Corvette's gone (and the Esprit) to fund son's house purchase, so I'll have to slum it in an Elise this year ;-)

I'm slightly biased......but find Buxton is good as it has many hotels and bars and is only about a 15 minute drive from Chatsworth.....

You a Buxtoner ?

I'm from there, could recommend a few places, one I stay at is an excellent B&B, around £70, but I'd it's Festival week it will be rammed !!!
