Glad I didn't buy an audi, bmw, land rover or range rover, did you see these dodgy keys being cloned in less than a few minutes. I read that some insurance companies are no longer supporting insurance for some of the cars affected moving forward

First seven months of this year 294 ranges stolen in London alone compared to 63 x5's. It's got to a point where you cannot insure a range rover in London.

However this method of theft is a new thing. You've been able to buy a hacking blipper for ford transits for years!

You could break into the old 3 series without setting the alarm off due to a blind spot in the system, then a couple minutes on the laptop and you have yourself a key.

Fitting a second alarm or dummy obd2 port seems to be the only defence.

I had my 58 plate BMW 330D stolen from my driveway in June '13.

However, it was because of this that I looked for something as practical to replace it with (after a battle with Admiral insurance!!!) and ended up with my Lotus!! It ain't all bad!!

I thought they had resolved the issue, but obviously not!

One reason we didn't go keyless on our Range Rover. It was a known issue before we bought however JLR don't seem to have admitte the sackd there's a problem or sorted a fix.

The fix is obvious. Go back to using a key. Some modernisation is for the sake of it. All top end companies are guilty of it. It sells cars. I seem to remember Rover denying a HGF problem on the K series     :)

Lucky escape there! I had a 57 330i M Coupe. It was an utterly horrid car...
