smithpaulg
Hi I am planning to change the window seals at the base of my windows as they are starting to bubble in places. As I will have the doors in bits and whilst I am ordering from Deroure, I was wondering if anyone had done this job before and knows if there are any other bits that I should be replacing that may have worn and be contributing to the rattles? Here is the Deroure image (mine are manual windows): Please let me know! Thanks Paul
Simon Mac
My window sills are bubbling too, and I thought about changing them. Mine rattle, and it's the plastic guide bushes that are worn. I adjusted the mechanism as best I can, so they are held in place when fully up, or not quite shut, but not replaced the guides. I have a 3D printer @ work and did think about making some more. One thing I have done though is lube the hell out of the bushes/guides with silicon spray, and it made a big difference to how smoothly the window operates, and weirdly (maybe psychosomatic) seems to have reduced rattle too. HTH Si Forgot to mention I also put some electrical tape round the door pins to stop the doors themselves moving so much. That made a big difference too. Simon Mac
If anyone has some old ones they could send me I'll gladly 3D model them and print off some samples.. I reckon PLA plastic should be smooth enough.

Shedman
Following this with interest - mine are very loose. Will also try the door pin trick as well - the pin and/or latch can be adjusted as well presumably? Pete
chris_h
On the series 2 Elise/exige, you don't need to take the door apart to replace the top seal that bubbles (It just slides into place - 5 min job)

cjwjames
whats the door pin trick? You can do one better than putting electrical tape around the door latch pins you can buy like i did door anti rattle pins and they do work
Simon Mac
You can do one better than putting electrical tape around the door latch pins you can buy like i did door anti rattle pins and they do work True, but I'm too tight The story I heard goes Lotus used pins from one car, but locks from another. They are a fraction different in size, hence the rattle. http://www.eliseparts.com/products/show/16/48/anti-rattle-door-striker-pins/ Pay £20, or use some electrical tape you have lying around, both achieve the same result functionally. The £20 option is more aesthetically pleasing.
