Exige Electric Window Fail

Guest

Recommended Posts

While out driving on Sunday the passenger window failed when i was trying to close it, i heard a clunk then the glass dropped in to the door. I have removed the door card and there is nothing obvious, the motor works but something has worked loose or broken. Has anyone had the same problem?

Is it still in its runners Simon?

Its still in its runners and i can manually lift the glass up and it slides in to position perfectly. On removing the door panel and while operating the window switch the cables only seem to travel half the distance they should but doesn't move the glass at all, cheers Jonny

This.

Pain the the backside to get back on them.

I'm hoping the glass doesn't need removing from them.

Yea taking the glass out and all the gubbins is a proper PITA Simon I've done it a few times.  Take the other side panel off and check like for like to see if a screw is missing or something is caught.  Do it one step at a time, hopefully narrow down the fact that something major broken.  There is a rail at the bottom of the glass, check all is well with that too.  The seal across the top comes off quite easily, pull the black plastic pin out above the reflector and push/slide the seal inwards with the window down. Be gentle when removing, do not bend.

I've had a good look as you suggested, the rail at the base of the glass is all secure, there is nothing loose or broken off in the bottom of the door, the only thing i've noticed is in the image attached, the black clip in the centre of the image which is on one of the cables is loose and should be attached to something, could it be as minor as that? Other than that i will take the other door card off over the next few days to compare. Thanks though for your input sir!

I had this on mine and found the cable had came out/off at the one end.... I had to remove the motor to get to the cable and get it back on, I also found the cable was kinked and was not winding correctly so ended up having it all replaced under warranty

That exposed wire doesn't look right at all mate, it should be sheathed. Probably just popped off its anchor point which could be the right angled bracket pictured can't quite tell.

Message me your email address and I will send you the pages from the service manual on how to remove the window mechanism, I used it to sort mine out.
