TBH "top end" DRLs now switch off when the corresponding indicator comes on. Wonder how long before VAG push that through as EU laws too!

This is generally only the case where, due to proximity of the DRL to the indicator, that visibility of the indicator itself might be compromised due to the intensity of the DRL.

 

High intensity LED DRLs also "dim" when the side/headlamps are switched on. This dimming is intended to eliminate dazzle at night.

There is a DRL function on the ICM (PIN A23) if you can use that but I assume that this would be used to activate an as yet unfitted module/relay.

There was some discussion on the Lotus Forums on this topic 3 plus years ago. This indicated that cars after the release of Federal spec cars have two connectors which when linked will turn on the headlights etc, with the ignition,
