DanP
My elise is coming up to 40k, and I think it is time to refresh those toe links. Bloomin heck, some of the kits are expensive! £200 - http://elise-spares.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=129 €250 - http://www.elise-shop.com/eliseshop-toe-link-kit-elise-exige-europa-211-vx220-p-502166.html £250 - http://www.eliseparts.com/products/show/72/469/uniball-toe-link-kit/ £600 - http://www.hangar111.com/shop/449-exige-s2-elise-111r-2-eleven-rear-toe-link-brace-bar-kit.html I'm gonna go for the cheapest :-) the elise-spares £200 kit. Looks strong enough, and probably about the same price as buying the oem stock replacement parts. Seems like it slots in without any changes to the vehicle. The other ones look like a pain to install. Massively over-engineered mounting points. Anyone else gone down this route?

Dennis
I am looking at refreshing my suspension and so looking at doing the rear toe links, they have lasted 68,000 miles without issue, what is it that fails ( ball joints or the bars) so what do I need to be doing (road use and possibly a light track day once a year) Mine is a S1 with alli rear uprights
Steve J
OEM is fine for road and track with standard tyres. If you're doing track days with semi-slicks upgrade before it costs you more if they go.
Alex B
as dean said jody made his own kit at a fraction of the cost of the above links

The fixing comes loose and its not noticed causing it to fail. Also the joint seizes or becomes stiff and again fails in time. I check mine for tightness and ease of rotation before and after a trackday and also at regular intervals.
Dennis
So just replacing the all joints and cleaning up the bar bit (if I can get the ends out) will be fine? It is all to easy to go ott and spend a bit extra here and a bit extra there and end up unnecessarily spending a fortune
Steve J
You could always save money on cleaning and spend it on mechanical bits

You will need a geo afterwards as well. You will need a geo whichever set you fit.
DanP
For now, I've decided to just tell Gav to give my toe links a good check the next time the car is with him.
winthattt
On an s2 some cars have the mounting holes and threads for the double shear covers. For those cars kits like the ones from Elise parts are easy to fit. If your subframe does not have the mounting holes and threads (later cars) life becomes much more difficult. In that case I choose the Lotus kit with the cross brace. It saved drilling the subframe and removing the lower wishbones. If you have a later s2 I would get Jonny's Lotus kit. If you do not track track the car or use semi slicks, normal toe links should be ok.
