No More Lotus Driving Untill Further Notice......

Seen the doc today to get my left knee looked at. Its been in pain for 2/3 months but has worsened over the last 4 weeks.

Changing gear (clutch) and the amount of driving I do isn't helping. I'm grounded from manual cars for the time being, the company have swapped my Merc for an auto today.

Doc suspects it could be arthritis but I'm having an x-ray next month to investigate. I'm hoping its just a sprain or something.

Roll on Scatty's jokes about me being old.

I hope it isn't anything too serious. I went to the Dr earlier in the year due to pain in one of my shoulders. It was diagnosed as "frozen shoulder". This was without any inspection.

I was told i would need a steroid injection or just put up with it. I did not agree and i got a second opinion via a physiotherapist. Half a dozen sessions later and my shoulder is as good as i can remember.

I would recommend visiting a specialist if you can.

Either way i hope all works out well.

Pmsl, I'm so predictable...

I was thinking age straight away...lol..

Hope it's nothing serious fish and clears up....

You don't really hear of knee trouble in small people.....

Sorry to hear that, I injured a tendon in my hip and got signed off cycling by the doc.

I was cycling every weekend (pretty hardcore peak district Mtb stuff) and most weekdays commuting before that, it's not nice having something you really love being banned by the quack!

I'm pretty out of shape now, as it's taken nearly a year for it to heal. Need to build back up my cycle fitness now.

Hope they can come up with something for you a little quicker, otherwise I guess it's an auto Evora ;)

Dr H, its not a Merc auto, the only auto available in our pool fleet at the moment is a .............................. Prius.

Picked it up from head office yesterday (its only covered 1600 miles) and it broke down on my drive as I parked it after only covering 56miles. Its currently with Toyota. Anyone following me on FB will see the picture.

Today's rental is a Honda Jazz auto.

The Prius and Jazz are utterly horrendous machines but having the auto is certainly a relief for my knee.

The X-ray and results can't come quick enough.

We've done a lot of work on knees in the office here. I've spent more time than is normal in operating theatres watching knees being mucked about with. They are complicated things (as you'll have worked out). FWIW, my opinion is:

• Start with less-invasive solutions first. Even if they don't work, you can always move up the scale. Moving back down is harder!

• If there's anything remotely complicated going on, see a real expert. Not your local orthopod who does a few knees a week, together with hips, sports medicine and other stuff. See someone who does knees and nothing but knees, all day every day. There are a few of them about, and they are really in a different league. The breadth and depth of their understanding is different, and in a good way.

• Probably (but not always) get good physio to go with anything else. Again, not just physio, but physio from someone who knows knees.

Sorry to hear of your woes, Fish. Good luck.
