More Emerald Woes..

Recommended Posts

Car is now fully times up.

ECU config is sorted

Map is for a very close spec to mine.

Car is hesitant/stuttering at random through the rev range.

Could running a standard cat be causing issues? Ie too much back pressure?

I would say the CAT is not the problem.

Didn't you say it was getting a RR session, did they detect any problems?

That was the plan but the guy isn't answering his phone, so chances of it happening are slim.

Alex, I really don't think it's the CAT. I had mine mapped without a CAT and when I put one on it ran fine. It did need a remap to ensure the fueling was correct but it ran fine, no change, no hesitation.

Same here.... Mine runs OK when I put my CAT on for MOT time even with my performance map.

This guy is local to me, He set-up my bike engined kit car and does lots of race/performance mapping -

Might be worth a call and see what he can do before the weekend if your struggling to get someone at short notice.

doesnt seem to matter which map i put on... all very similar specs including stu masons latest map and two from emerald.

just tried Stu's map ran lovely until about 500 meters up the road then stuttering and hesitation.
(stu's car runs the same spec as mine)

Will ring him in the morning, just getting the car from here to there could be an issue.

gonna try n get hold of a pair of coil packs n some new plugs tomorrow, see if it make any difference.

As you say, sounds like an underlying problem. Start with the basics of fuel or spark, as you've had everything apart, something could have easily knocked loose.

Hope you get it sorted.

Alex, it's a good map that I've given you best I've had. As mentioned on Chatsworth thread. It's sounds electrical to me. If not tps. Then crank trigger, dizzy cap are other bits. If it runs then sounds like all wired up ok. Just something not working quite right. Jonny's suggestion is a good shout or unit 4.

cheers stu, i'm gonna swap coil packs plugs n have a spare set of leads,so will try that.

the only other possibility is its down to the CPS and lightweight fly however this is not meant to happen on a K3 only earlier M3DK units

Alex, if you are getting an RPM reading in live adjustments i cant see it being the crank signal. Can you set it up so a passenger can watch the screen as you drive it for clues? Like the crank signal dropping out as you drive? If it revs ok whilst not moving you may well have a none Emerald problem as well?
