benny1235
My evora seems to miss abd start a bit when driving, like the power goes then picks back up. More so when gear is change or going slow. Put on fault code reader abd nothing came up? Any ideas?
chris_h
Apparently the throttle position connector can sometimes come loose by only a couple of mm. Disconnect and reconnect, it's the smallish black connector on the throttle body (between air box and intake manifold).
benny1235
Would that make it intermittent?
chris_h
Yes as it makes and loses connection over bumps and engine movement. If it totally disconnects then the car goes into limp mode and you get warning codes. It might not be your problem but I read about the problem on the lotustalk forum while researching buying my evora. http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f170/bad-throttle-body-connector-235345/
benny1235
Ok, I just have no idea were to take my car too as my closet garage is 65 miles away and doubt it would get there in one pierce. Any ideas mansfield or notts?
chris_h
Try it yourself first. When you open the engine cover it is virtually the first thing you see in front of you. Disconnect, clean and make sure it's firmly connected again. P4N Lotus
Could it not just be faulty spark ? Is there any engine warning lights at all
benny1235
No, plus it's bit more than just miss fire, no warning lights nothing
chris_h
Did you completely take it off and re-connect as some people had the problem but dismissed it as the connector seemed attached. Other thought is a bad batch of fuel.
P4N Lotus
I was gona suggest fuel, have you gone anywhere not your usual for fuel recently or it's possible bad batch of fuel like Chris says. If noting has come up, on mil lights on eclectic fault then unsure. Does yours have sport mode button? Is that working ok if it does?
benny1235
I go lots of places for fuel, it started at the end of the day after 40 miles of running on same fuel. My client a mechanic disconnected it so looks to be done correctly but didn't fix it. He said its not a little misfire almost as though loss of poss for a second. Possibly electronic, but unsure as nothing came up on fault code reader.
P4N Lotus
If was electric fault relating to engine you would have an orange spanner show up continuously. If it's a minor electric fault spanner shows for 30secs then goes
benny1235
Neither happens, I had a yellow spanner on for a few seconds about 2 months ago but nothing since. It's very strange. Any ideas who can fix it? No one near me as a) a clue or wants too
chris_h
Unfortunately we don't have any main dealers around here. I haven't heard of any other problems on the evora that have the symptoms you describe. Could be a failing coil pack, but I'd expect the misfire to cause the engine warning light to be on and fault codes saved. My guess is still the connector, as it's exactly the same symptoms.
