Expansion Tank Overflow.

Popped home at lunch to let the dog out and on returning to work I opened the boot to get the roof back out and saw this...

I was straight onto the phone to Gav who says it sounds like nothing to worry about and to start by swapping out the expansion tank cap.

 

My water level after a drive has been going up an inch or 2 which I don't remember it going up by this amount before but this was to the top and leaking out the cap, temperature went steadily up to 105 and the fans did kick in so not sure if this is just a combination of a hot day and weak tank cap.

As Gav says dont panic yet. However if a new cap does not fix it be prepared to spend a few quid.

I hope not as the head gasket was done less than 2 years/5k miles ago by phoenix motorsport. Everything was upgraded and the head skimmed and rebuilt.

Looks like it's all sorted. I've replaced the cap and after a few trips the water level is steady and hardly rising as it was before.
