New Exige S Owner - Intro & Question

Hi Guys,

So after a good year with the 997 GT3 I was offered too good a price from Porsche to refuse a sale back to the dealer. Im trying to get better with cars and money as we've got a little one on the way (our first)...

So I decided to try the Exige S wink.png

Hoping to take delivery this Saturday! Goes without saying that i'm hella excited and watched too many videos on YouTube in anticipation. Lost count of the number of reviews i've read and re-read lol

Currently at 35 miles so will be working hard to clock up the miles for its first running in service, with a hope to get on track for end of May/beginning of June.

Also hope to meet a few of you folk along the way smile.png

I do have a question... My insurer has stipulated a need for a tracker, previously used CobraTrak which was very good and has full EU coverage. Looking at Lotus Silverstone it appears Lotus recommend Tracker which seems to have limited EU coverage (excludes SPA for example). Keen to ensure no warranty issues or dodgy installs. Any recommendations/guidance?

Lotus Silverstone do appear to be having a little bit of a joke at near double the list fitted price compared to the market sad.png

Nice to meet you all!

I've just changed insurers and need a tracker too.

I've rang around a few mobile installation companies and most recommend the Tracker Cat5 plus.

Nice choice of car by the way. I previous had a 997.1 GT3, business partner had a 997.2 GT3 so drove that a few times too.

Personally prefer the Exige on track!

I wanted an insurance policy with track day cover this year. (spent a fortune on single track day cover last year) Everyone I called wanted a tracker. Seems to be the case for any car now with a value over £50k.

I'm having same issue in wanting cover including track day, anything over £50k they want a tracker.

Going to call Silverstone and see if there open to negotiate as would prefer it to get done at dealer given the electrics etc...

Will definitely post pics and also a write up on my views vs my old gt3

I got a tracker on one of our vehicles and stayed away from tracker as I did not like there different levels of service and some were limited, I went else where and got a 24/7 fully monitored system using a couple of methods of tracking/monitoring.

We have it connected to the Clifford alarm and it works very well including calls when someone does not turn the alarm off properly (when in for service etc.)

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey Imran, only just spotted your thread - too busy hitting the bottle every 3 hours and not the alcoholic type either!

Sorry to hear the car is delayed still, looking forward to hopefully seeing it in the flesh in a couple of weeks.

Your Exige purchase with a newborn on the way makes our Evora seem as sensible as a people carrier lol.

Still not picked up the car... Seems to be a problem with the DVLA issuing the V5 so the wait continues sad.png

I'm in a similar situation with regard to the V5. As of today (Friday 9th May), my Elise still hasn't been registered and I've been driving it on public roads!!!!!!

All the docs were sent to the DVLA on 1st May but they now "allow themselves" 7 working days to process new registrations. All the local offices have now been closed down (brilliant bit of "economising" by the Cons), meaning that we (the VOTERS - remember that one) now have to suffer stupid, artificial delays in getting our new pride and joys onto the road. I hope smug git Cameron is pleased with himself (for his remaining term, that is).

Rant over..... back to waiting in an enormous f...ing queue :-((.

Some good news.... Picking it up tomorrow ;)

Still got to do some faffing with paperwork to ensure I'm first registered owner but dealers going to sort one way or another.

Eric, Cameron or not the DVLA have always been s*it! Hope your issue gets resolved soon bud ;)
