KurtB
Hello Peeps, I'm in the unfortunate position that despite being off the road all winter, the Exige has decided to develop an oil and coolant leak (separate issues) and no time/inclination to fix them myself. I'm wanting to take my car to a trusted source and keep hearing great things about Gav at Unit 4. It's a couple of hours away, but I reckon it's less than a days work. So I'm wondering... Does Gav have a courtesy car? If not, are there things to do in the local area, within walking distance, to kill time? Does anyone have a link to his website that works and a phone number for Unit 4? Cheers, Kurt
scatty
01283 535315 Morning Kurt. Sadly technology and gav haven't met yet (morning gav)...a few hours will fly by once you start chatting to gav... I'd give him a buzz on the above.. Loads to do in Burton, it's the centre of culture for the East Midlands.,., *** part of the above is untrue. KurtB
Thanks Scatty, I'm on it. All booked in, he'll have it late in the month. It needs fixing to be reliable for it's trip to the Le Mans Classic. I'm looking forward to seeing what cultural delights Burton can offer. I went on a blind date there once, and that tells a whole different story... ;-)
Mark H
They really need an advert on here, this seems to get asked every few weeks!
Steve J
Indeed. BTW Burton smells of Marmite apparently
nordberg
It needs fixing to be reliable for it's trip to the Le Mans Classic. Are you doing the Classic on your own or is it a pre arrange jobbie? I did this two years ago in my 1275GT. Think its a great show. Goodwood Revival has the edge I think as more people make the effort to dress in period guise but its still a cracking show. KurtB
Nordberg, I'm going with my Father in Law, him in his Jaguar XKR. We booked tickets through Just Tickets, and booked a ferry online. So, no, it's not a pre-arranged job and it's our first time. I'm looking forward to it and having been on the 'inside' at Goodwood Revival (being a techie on three of the Warbirds there), I am expecting it to be really great. smithpaulg
Kurt I tend to go to the cafe down the road, they do an excellent big breakfast. That's all the culture I need in Burton! Plus I tend to spend a lot of time questioning Gav while he works! Paul
John FISH Curtis
Indeed. BTW Burton smells of Marmite apparently It absolutely stinks..... Marmite, not Gav!
Dr H
You could wander round the National Brewery Centre which is only about 5 mins walk down the road. http://www.nationalbrewerycentre.co.uk/
KurtB
Ale is my favourite pastime so hopefully I won't give into temptation Leigh! Thanks for the heads up guys, roll on this month...
KurtB
This is what Gav will be looking at. As a guess it's the crankshaft oil seal. This is gonna get pricy isn't it?! It's not easy to see higher...

Alex B
I take it that you'll be trailering the car to gav's?
KurtB
Probably not Alex, no trailer. It'll have to be the constant loss lubrication system. It's lost very little (unreadable amount in the 150 miles of thrashing) since I discovered the leak.
