Removable Steering Wheel For An S1 Which One?

Hi I know that there have been other discussions but not currently that I have read!

I'm 6.2 and feel I could gain a little space getting in if I fit a removable wheel, so was wanting to see what everyone's opinions are?

Do people find that they have a lot of play in the joint?

Thanks Jode.

Also replied on seloc, I have one and no play but it did move he wheel towards you a bit, also I find it harder to get out if I take the wheel off first.

Try a D shaped wheel if getting your leg over is proving difficult

I have a snap off with momo race. Which is the same or similar to the wheel lotus put on the 211No play whatsoever

That looks to be the race 320 which is slightly larger than the standard wheel, I think the standard wheel is 310mm from memory

I had a removable 300mm momo wheel and a 40mm spacer, bought from Elise parts...

It made driving brilliant, no legs hitting the wheel at all.... But it made it slightly more difficult getting in and out if you left the wheel on... And tbh I didn't find it the easiest wheel to keep getting on and off....I think 300mm would be perfect, they do a 295mm version I think, but everyone advised me it would be too small....

Standard wheel is 320 http://www.elises.co.uk/components/s1/steering/

A decent quick release kit should have no play at all. I've only had play in ones that I've bought second hand as over time (especially if people lean on the wheel when getting out) they wear the lugs slightly.

Sheldon's (stockhome's) is a decent bit of kit. As long as you buy a reputable make you should be fine.

If it's any helps I am 6ft 3 and found that a 300mm wheel with 40mm spacer and quick release hub was perfect for leg room.
