In (Everyday) Car Cameras

I'm finding myself more and more these days having close calls and we're not talking the toilet kind when I say, I thinks it's age! But seriously I seem the have mellowed the way I approach everyday driving. As a consequence I seem to be endlessly tailgated, cut up especially on Islands where it would seem only I can see the white lines or pulled out on..... So having been hit a few years back by a chap whilst stationary and that was my fault I fancy a third eye, and I don't mean the K20 kind. So what are people using, what is recommended?

Cheers

Jonny

We've got in-car cameras for our cars. Cheap ones, but they do they job. I think they were about £35 - £40 each, and you buy the 10 quid, or so SD card separately. We got them off e-Bay a couple of years ago. :)

Used mine in the Esprit the other weekend, then forgot to put in back in the Jimny for Monday morning. And I ABSOLUTELY HATED driving without it..... I swear my car was like a crash magnet, I had so many near misses, and the car in front of me nearly knocked a biker off on the roundabout. angry.gif

Get one, ASAP!

E. :)

I've just bought a £15 one of eBay. Tested it on my way home at night and the quality isn't very good. Going to try it in the day time and see if it's any better. For £15 I thought it was worth a punt.

Ps. Mines a fake version of that one from Amazon.

Ours are really good, perfect in the daylight, and more than decent at night. :)

Why does the wife give you a bollocking for 3 cars? We had 7 on the road for ages, and a couple or three in the garage at the same time. biggrin.png Only got 4 now, and a motorbike... You need to remind her that you could have many, many more, and even worse, she could be funding them! wink.pngbiggrin.pngwink.pngbiggrin.png

The go pro is better quality but a bit over kill to have stuck to your windscreen 24/7

I am waiting for one from Hong Kong (if it turns up) for just short of £30.

Remember these are for catching accidents so no need for he quality you just need to see road markings etc.

I blame my Dad, I worked on cars with him from a very young age! biggrin.png Then I worked at the scrapyard up the road from the age of 8... for a bottle of pop & a bag of crisps at the pub on a Saturday night! Weren't the 70's great? cool.gif

Maybe I should run courses that teach women how to become petrolheads? wink.png

That's why we only went for cheap ones, they get left on the windscreen all of the time.

Ours all came from China, but I can't remember where.

That was our theory too. It's a good picture, that clearly shows the road markings, and number plates. smile.png

Here's some tit cutting the roundabout. Look how close he was to the right hand side of my bonnet, I put him on Spotted Whitwick to be named & shamed! biggrin.png

I love the sound of my 139dB Stebel Nautilus Compact horn! jump.gif

Mounted my dual camera unit on rear screen. Easy to plug into lighter socket, no trailing wires.

Front view not so good but stops tailgaters when they see it, the display faces backwards so quite obvious from behind.

They are becoming very popular these days, I've been using a 0801 for a good few months now, I bought it with the intention of being able to swap from one car to another but I'm very lazy and at the price I just ended up buying another.

Review here:http://www.techmoan.com/blog/2013/8/31/the-mini-0801-tiny-1080p-gps-car-camera-with-an-lcd-screen.html

initially I took the review with a pinch of salt but having used one both in the Audi and the Lotus I just can't fault it. The 0801 is a bit more expensive than others but you can't really knock its value for money, the video is clear and bright and it handles night driving extremely well, the supplied software is reasonable but better stuff is available online.

Its not often I champion a product but I have been very impressed with this tiny camera.

So I've brought and installed the cheap one...

...off ebay. The instructions are utterly useless even the number/button menu doesn't match but I figured it out and it's not bad, will certainly do for the money. Double checked some footage and yep two cars almost hit me today drifting in and out of lanes on a duel carriageway and at Tynurn Island. 32G card fitted £15. Very doubtful it's HD lol. Arrived in 7 day, kept informed via email all the way.
