I am no expert mechanic but if your car uses the fly by wire for the throttle it could be the Potentiometer. I've heard about this jumping problem before on an Elise. Hope you get it back soon. Let us all know the outcome;-)

I'll throw another random potential issue into the pot... My 2007 exige started to do wierd ass things (like you mentioned). It turned out to be the wiring loom in the engine bay had been chaffing/shorting out (hence doing different things moving and static).
