My Project Is Finished And On The Road...

So eventually i got my little clio project on the road today.

As you may have seen in the post when i was thinking of buying it, I took a bit of a punt on a Mk1 Clio 1.8 16v in williams blue i found on ebay. It looked pretty shit in the pictures but for the money was worth a punt.

It had no tax or test and had been off the road for a few years. Some old chap had it with the aim of stripping it out for track. But his wife and time prevented him from doing so, so it sat in the garage next to his 5 series.

Got it picked up and drove it 50 miles home to leicester, it felt ok to drive but needed work doing to it.

Had a few problems with it but nothing major. Luckily for me Alex B off here knows a lad called Craig from Dash Cars in Loughborough, who owns one of these and has worked on many and he has helped rescued the car.

Him and his mate came round last weekend and gave it a once over, saying i may have got a bit of a bargin, as there was no rust on arches and the usual places.

Things that needed doing:

New alternator

New rear pads

New battery

Rad fan

2 tyres

And bits of wiring that needed tidying up.

Thats what i got sorted with thanks to Craig and also members of the http://www.clio16valver.co.uk forum, who had loads of original parts locally to me..

It went for MOT yesterday and all that needing doing was:

Drivers side rear fog light

drivers front anti roll bar link broken

cv gaiter split

front brakes need cleaning

So not that much, but again Craig has fixed all this today for a bit of beer money.

Other bits i have done are the cosmetics:

Williams rear spoiler

Phase 1 wing mirrors (smaller)

Magnex back box exhaust

Stainless steel straight through decat pipe

K&N filter

and the last bit i have bought parts for but need to do is lower it a bit.

MOT'd, taxed and insured today and just been for a blast, very good fun for a 19 year old car.

it now means i can save my lotus from the 70 mile a day commute and really enjoy it more on track and runs.

I think i will bring it to the next fish meeting if thats allowed ;-)

Sorry you had to meet Kiz, Chris we don't normally let him out. Craig was astonished at how quick you sourced the extra bits and also at how rust free it is.

His valver is very quick spends 95% of its life broken though. He had 2 or 3 at one stage.
