Bolt On Exhaust Silencer For Exige?

I need to locate someone in the East Midlands that can make me a removable bolt on silencer that will enable me to safely do trackdays.

My Exige has the Lotus Stage 3 exhaust with the trumpet outlet pipe, so I need something making bespoke - it's not going to be an easy fix.

Any recommendations??

What bhp are you running and what track day noise limit have you broken/where do you want to go?

You might be better getting a new back box (lotus one isn't great anyway).

Quite a few people have a problem with the supercharger induction noise if they have changed the airbox rather than the exhaust (or a combination of both).

It won't be easy to fit/make a supertrap type device to an Exige s exaust (plus I undertand they create quite a bit of back pressure).

P4N lotus had an exhaust made for his Evora at a place in Watnall a couple of weeks back. If you searcb you will find the thread. I guess they would be worth a visit as they are local.

Cheers for the input guys.

The circuit is Donington, & the driveby noise limit is 98db. I've been borderline before with my old set up, but now I have a new Stage 3 ( it's a long story ) & I'm worried I'm going to be too loud.

I've tried the place in Watnall, & they can't help.

What I need, is someone who can manufacture a slide in/bolt on additional silencer that I can remove for road use, without too much fuss or hassle. My exit pipe is oval, slightly recessed & a trumpet type shape, so I know it's not straightforward, but I'm surprised there's not someone out there that could come up with something to sort it.

Cheers again for the input.

I think you will struggle if supercharged. I am running a 2bular 8x24 exhaust (jims original quiet exhaust) and I tripped the donny meters at 98.3db

I have changed my cup airbox back to standard and will be looking for one of 2bulars new offerings for track. See here, Jim has also manufactured a twin setup so you can install an additional box for track.

Have you got the original (standard) exhaust?

If you have, why don't you just swap that on for the track day. Once you've done it a couple of times its only 20-30 mins to swap them.

I think I'd phone Jim up at 2bular....

I've got the same 8x24 2bular as G, and it's as quite as a mouse on my n/a. It made 89db at cadwell....

Thanks very much for the input guys.

Spoke to Jim at 2Bular, he doesn't currently have a fix for this, although he is looking at it. I'll keep researching & feedback, some good suggestions above though, thanks.

I'm going to do a noise test at the weekend, & even try a driveby. Jonny at BaT has given me some tips on how best to replicate the Donny set up. I feel in the past, it was my SC whine that took me close to the limit ( or even over if I kept my foot in past the meter ), my concern now though is that with a louder exhaust noise, the two together will just be too much!

That said, I've found a guy in Stafford at AAS ltd who has all the details of my car & is fairly convinced he can help me. Fingers crossed, I'm going to see him Monday.

Cheers guys.
