Robo Elise Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 My thoughts entirely! I don't think it was actually on last year but I went the year before and found it much more interesting like you say in the car park areas than inside. A fiver is just about enough for what there is inside. Yeah I also wondered what people who had travelled far thought. Great day yesterday for it tho. I didn't go myself as I had to go to Cambridge but I enjoyed seeing a few Lotus cars on the M1 and A14. Twenty spotted in total!! Plus one when I got back home and went for a drive in my S2. :-)
FlyingExige Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Glad I didn't make the effort and drive up from Somerset - as said, the car park is the only bit worth going for!
DeanB Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 I agree the car park was more interesting than inside, but I don't mean that as a criticism. There were literally hundreds of Lotuses there, including examples of every road car Lotus have ever made. Some really nice stuff. For me, it was worth the trip for that alone on a nice sunny day. The bit indoors was well worth a look too I thought - not spectacular, but still pretty good.
M@r]{ Posted April 21, 2013 Author Posted April 21, 2013 Agree with Dean it was a good show. Wouldn't travel more than a few hours though, better if you make a social out of it
Elaine Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 We had a really good time today, LOADS of Esprits. And spent hours chatting with friends, old & new. I s'pose it is a no frills, car enthusiast's show, but it always has been. Looking forward to next year.
Phil S1 Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Great set of photos, reckon you've about covered it there! I think I've probably been every year for about the last 10 years now and the novelty's started to wear off.....even with a two year break this time. The car park is great but for me ruined by the lack of any coordination regarding the parking. It always seems to be a half-hearted attempt at any form of Lotus specific parking which is a shame because this time in particular everyone seemed so spread out and mixed in with every other make of car too. The stuff inside is generally good but it's a bit like groundhog day, it doesn't really seem to move on very much, yes there was stuff like the V6 Exige in there but generally it's the same stuff each year. I certainly don't think it warrants the £10 admission, like others have said, a fiver would be plenty. The best year for me was when it coincided with a Lotus On Track trackday with passenger rides for charity. Having said all that.....I'll probably go again next year
Elaine Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Parking was fine today, Lotus only. Here's a few pics of our S4s & (A7ESK) Eddie's (special orange edition) Elise. Just realised I didn't take any of my Father in Law's Excel... I know he's had it 20 years now, but even so... Eddie, can you help?! Did you take any? I blame you, I was busy taking photo's of yours, and totally forgot about Roger's. *I'm dead now* E.
DanP Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 It's only a tenner!! Buy a cinema ticket and some popcorn, and you've already spent more!!! Maybe if they had some nice Porsches inside some of the seloc crowd would come....

lummo Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 I couldn't go this weekend, had to go over & see my Dad. Did see a very nice Essex liveried Esprit Turbo on the M42 though, along with a Chrome Orange S1 Elise and a black S2 Elise.
