JonS Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 I might have missed this somewhere else here, but has anyone else found that CCI are now unable to unsure them because Aviva have decided you need to be over 40 to be classed as responsible enough to drive an Elise???? FFS! I now have 2 weeks to my renewal date to sort something else out, with track cover and that is leaneant towards modifications. Fun!
Chris_edeson Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 I thought they would insure u under 40 but without track cover? A lad called chris rolling who works for them told me that and he also said they can quote for track days individually through anoter one of their companys! Let me know how u get on as at 28 and renewall due next month could be bad news for me!
richbk Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 not a problem for me as i'm just over the 40. i know the premiums went up loads last year if you wanted commuting on your policy rather than just social / domestic, not heard the age restriction. i have always had great service from all at CCI, but seems aviva are trying to move out of our market...might be time fro a change richbk
JonS Posted April 5, 2013 Author Posted April 5, 2013 It would appear so. Quite annoying really as I was hoping not to have to do the whole ringing around lark again this year. As for offering track cover separately Chris, why would I pay extra for something I could get as part of a policy somewhere else.
Chris_edeson Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Agree Jon... Just sharing what i was told by them :-)
JonS Posted April 5, 2013 Author Posted April 5, 2013 Ok, just got off the phone to them again, and as the name suggests, they don't do insurance cover for normal cars and normal circumstances (ie non-tracked cars). So you couldn't even get normal insurance with them. The guy said that the problem has come because they have basically offered too low premiums for the last couple of years and so when the claims come in from the increase in number of policies it is actually costing them far more, so Aviva have basically put a stop to this and put the age limit on it. Even BMW M3's aren't covered by CCI/Aviva now as well.
Chris_edeson Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Oh sh....t thats bad news as i didnt get a quote anywhere near as good as them last year :-( Better get an exige then lol
Ian C Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 My best quote was from these guys. Included unlimited track days as well (although I do have an Exige...): www.manninguk.com
stockhome Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 I did not have a problem renewing as my car, I was told it was due to the fact is was special edition. My car is a standard Elise sports tourer with a mildly ported head which makes it a s2 135 sport. Not really much different to Jons car, its a bit mad really
Dixie Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Ist Direct gave me a very simular quote to what CCI used to quote me. Might be worth giving them a shot.
