Tidy lap and phenomenally quick. I'm quicker through turn 1 though biggrin.png

You're still the gutsiest driver through Coppice (turn 1) I've ever been out with. You were slowing down to 115 when you turned in.

The lap record is 1.21 in a single seater according to the poster in the Canteen at Cadwell.

It was one of the Jedis last year. I watched the race. Richard Mitcham, who was driving, seems like a very quick driver. He started the race at the back and got up to second place before his car broke down.

I'm looking forward to seeing them again this year.

Hi chaps,

Just joined the forum and will update this section if you're all interested? Our project is without doubt an interesting one and we'd love to share our progress.

We have sorted all our problems since our first round at Cadwell, which was in fact a very basic head gasket failure caused by both an undersized wastegate, but also a bypass valve which got stuck in the closed position, leading to huge excess boost. We have made some changes now, added a few extra things which we hadn't had time for until now and re-designed our exhaust system including fitting a huge new wategate. We're on the dyno for a couple of days starting tomorrow to get the mapping 100% sorted and then we're off for some testing next Friday and getting our new aero package dialled in from what we learnt in the wind tunnel.

Here's a picture of the engine bay from yesterday.

Looking forward to seeing this unleashed on track!!

Some very impressive pipe work there!

Good luck with the dyno work i think you may have created a beast!

Look forward to reading more...

Yes, the quality of the pipework really is lovely and I'm very glad to have found the guy we use for this stuff, as he isn't really known in the Lotus community.

And yes, the engine is an absolute monster. The amount of power it wants to make is crazy, so it's going to be a case of getting it under our control more than anything. 750 bhp is my guess now, after what it did last time.

Mapping done. The engine is running perfectly and there is just power and torque the moment any throttle is applied. However, it seems the car broke the dyno again, so mapping had to be done in a slightly different way. Mapping up to 5500rp...m and then mapping separately from 5500rpm upwards on a different run.

Anyway, Sam and Scuffers decided to leave the power output at a sensible level and at 2 bar boost, bearing in mind we're running on normal pump fuel and the fuel pump is already running at over 90% duty cycle.

So the numbers are..........571bhp at the hub flanges. i.e, about 650bhp at the engine. Torque was about 380 ftlbs at the hubs.

A huge, huge thanks to everyone involved with the project.

And here's how hot it gets.

That will give the Evo a run for its money. As an aside the rear shocks look like old Koni's? That will make the handling interesting smile.png ( tongue firmly in cheek )

Indeed. Assuming everything works ok on the day (including Scuffers), we 'should' be out of anyone's reach. Can't wait to see if that's true though!!!

And the Koni's are on whilst our development Quantum 4-ways are worked on.

That looks fantastic. Keep us posted with developments and results, won't you?

Welcome to MLOC by the way. I can't persuade you to bring it to our annual Chatsworth bash can I? :)

It would be great if you could bring it to Chatsworth, it's 'sort of' on your way home after the Oulton Park event on the Saturday wink.gif
