othercarsavolvo Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Afternoon all Mine's a series 1 Elise, this morning me and Dad pulled the bonnet off to tighten up the hinge at the front which had become loose. We screwed that back on and I pushed it shut by the windscreen, it now refuses to open. Pulling the cable does nothing, I'm stumped. It's open a little way so I don't know if a persuading device could be pushed in to release something there. Anyone had this before? Or a problem opening the boot, as it operates the same way?
Phil S1 Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 It might be slightly misaligned, you could try pressing down on the bonnet over the catch and moving it side to side whilst your Dad keeps pulling on the cable. I had a similar problem with the boot and it worked for me.
Jonathan E Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 If one of you keeps the release handle pulled the other can wiggle the bonnet from side to side, which is usually enough to release it. hth It might be slightly misaligned, you could try pressing down on the bonnet over the catch and moving it side to side whilst your Dad keeps pulling on the cable. dobbo Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 If you really can't get it open, then only other way is in through the wheelarch. To do this, you need to remove the wheelarch liner, which obviously means taking the wheel off. Where is your locking wheelnut key ? Er......
olliecast Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 i have to push mine slightly rearward from the gap in the front if that helps at all?
jhall89 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Yes usually works with one person pulling handle and another wiggling bonnet!
