What are your thoughts on wearing race suits on track days?

As an ex Caterham driver virtually all the drivers on Lotus 7 organised track days wore race suits.

I dont want to look like a 'dick'/ all the gear no idea !

However I don't think 3rd degree burns would look too pretty either!

Most people do not wear them on track days I have been to. Quite a lot wear nomex tops though

Jeans, a long sleeve T shirt & a lid seems to be order of the day in our little plastic cars. Driving shoes and gloves too if you like.smile.png

I have one from when i went sprinting. I have also worn it at the odd trackday. I dont think anyone takes any notice to be honest. You will always get varying degrees of talent / experience on trackdays, its what helps make them for me. From a common sense point of view we should all wear one all the time but dont. They do keep you warm on winter ones though :)

I agree with Martin. If you have one you ought to wear it really. I don't bother, probably because I would feel a bit of a dick. I should get over it. No-one cars really, I'm sure.

Dean - Yeah I have a suit from the Caterham days and Flying Exige that's a bloody true statement!!!

I loved it mate. Scary as hell at first. Luckily it was dry and i got my confidence back in the car not breaking away. it really is a super track. It certainly holds your concentration. :-) it was a glorious day and a track I'd definately do again, it really is one of those build your speed up tracks. As most of you will know, if you go off, you usually stay off.... :-)

It's so much steeper than it looks on the tv or you tube..

Most folks are wearing jeans, long sleeve tshirts and racing boots. As russ says, you could wear a race suit and no one would bat an eyelid....

Scatty/Dean- I agree Cadwell is by the far the best track IMO. That first right hander after the start finish line ( Park corner ?) really tests your bottle as you can't see much!

Out of interest did you wear your race suit???

The double apex one at the top of the hill? It's great isn't it? Perfect for getting the car moving about.
