scatty Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 As im in need of a new a/c condenser, gav suggested i upgrade the radiator whilst the front clam is off. i darent pester him anymore this week. ive asked more questions than bob holness..(kids, ask your parents)... which of these would do the job...i quite like the seriously triple one, as its black.would that fit and be suitable????? http://www.seriouslylotus.com/index.php/radiator-tripple-pass-42mm.html http://www.seriouslylotus.com/index.php/radiator-high-pressure-42mm.html or http://www.hangar111.com/shop/lotus-2-eleven-engine-tuning-parts/204-2-eleven-elise-exige-340r-parts-alloy-radiator-standard-replacement.html http://www.hangar111.com/shop/lotus-2-eleven-engine-tuning-parts/205-elise-exige-alloy-radiator-uprated-twin-core.html http://www.elise-shop.com/aluminium-high-pressure-extra-capacity-radiator-all-models-p-345.html thanks chaps....:-)
stockhome Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I went for a 42 mm one from eliseshop when I did mine Apparently the triple pass is only good for racing
scatty Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 ive just added an elise shop one onto the bottom, is that the chap????
Martin R Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 AFAIK, you need a 45mm if you have aircon? http://www.elisepart...raded-radiator/ Or the equivelent? Edit, i think aircon cars have twin fans as well? Another edit, ring Geary to confirm before ordering ?
Ian C Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 I also heard that triple pass is no good for normal use.
chris_h Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 I have a triple pass on mine and it's fine on the road. It has also made temps a couple of deg c lower when on track. This is my one (the black looks good as well) http://www.seriouslylotus.com/index.php/radiator-tripple-pass-42mm.html
Numbnutz Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 I've the Pro-Alloy triple pass. I was in two minds between this and the twin row race pro-alloy rad. The thing to remember with the triple pass is that it increases pressure between the water pump and the rad, as it has a third of the volume to cross the radiator, as it goes across, then back then across again. This is probably only of benefit if you are SC and do TD's. Other wise I would be tempted to go for the normal one, unless your temps run high. If you are SC, the pro alloy also do a Rad/Chargecooler/AC and fan remount kit (around £700 without the new AC Condensor) - this what I got - lovely bit of kit - shame to hide it under the clam! The downside to a chargecooler is running the hoses in and the expense of adding a pump and chargecooler in the engine bay too. http://www.proalloy.co.uk/cgi-bin/sitewise.pl?act=det&pt=52_921_62_178&p=207&id=proalloy Twin Row Race http://www.proalloy.co.uk/cgi-bin/sitewise.pl?act=det&pt=52_921_62_178&p=895&id=proalloy Triple pass http://www.proalloy.co.uk/cgi-bin/sitewise.pl?act=det&pt=52_921_62_178&p=787&id=proalloy Chargecooler / AC /etc I'll find some pics of the last.
russelld Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 I fitted a triple by pass from Lotus sport to my 111R and it made no difference at all to temps on track ( they still got very high )!! If you have front oil coolers I doubt you will have any cooling problems with a standard replacement, it is the Toyota cars without oil coolers that tend to have problems on track. As Martin has said ring Geary to confirm. I think I would go for the 45mm.
scatty Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 Many thanks chaps.....:-) It's been an expensive week off.....
jonnyfox Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 I have a triple pass on mine and it's fine on the road. It has also made temps a couple of deg c lower when on track. This is my one (the black looks good as well) http://www.seriously...-pass-42mm.html ^^^^^^^ Ditto ^^^^^^^
scatty Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 The elise shop one in the end....I did have to phone the young guru for his advice. I'm bloomin skint now. What with a £70 plastic coolant bottle and a new a/c condenser.... I'm looking forward to getting back to selling some crayons.....:-)
jimbo07g41 Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I don't understand why lotus fitted plastic end cap rads in the first place. I suspect cost and profit was a factor. Anyway most people who have fitted Alloy have had no further issues. Fit and forget. In fact I forget what alloy rad I have fitted but the condensers are like cheese. I put one on at the same time as the rad and it's showing signs of rust already. Crayons are very important and very much in demand with my daughter.
Meister Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Dean your right, mine has just failed! ( Have you seen it at Unit 4 ? ) At first I could not find the receipt and I thought the guy I brought it off said it was only 6 months old. However, I have now found the receipt and it was fitted new in January 2011, even so 2 years for an alloy radiator!!!!! Mark
